The Institute
The high Institute for Tourism & Hotels (HTH) is a private institution of higher education designated within the non-profit organizations in Egypt, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Higher Education in Egypt the (HITH) was founded in 1990 the concept idea was first introduced in 1980 by Dr. Soad Kafafi and then announced publicly and legally in and fifty students. It was established and has been sustained throughout its history by private individuals who purchased the institute’s campus and covered all the necessary expenses.
The Institute is located in the center of one of the world’s largest hospitality/tourism markets, in the 6th of October City in Egypt. Its campus is dedicated to using all the resources this area has to offer in preparing its students to assume key positions of responsibility in the hospitality and tourism industries.
The campus is comprised of parts of three city blocks. It houses administration offices, classrooms amphitheaters, a library, computer rooms, a language laboratory, and reproduction museums of ancient monuments. It is an oasis of quiet greenery. It encompasses an outdoor basketball court, a soccer field, gardens, and a fountain area
Industry interest is keen on presenting both paid internships and career track management positions opportunities for the students. Tour guidance major students have the right to be granted licenses to open their own tour guide business from the Ministry of Tourism in Egypt upon graduation.
The Institute is governed by the Dean and the Board of Directors. The latter have total responsibility and power. However, they must abide by all the regulations enforced by the Ministry of Higher Education in Egypt
The board of directors consists of a group of highly qualified professors, professionals, and experts. The board of directors is entitled to meet at least three times throughout the academic year. These outstanding educators have contributed to enhancing the level of education and professional training in the Institute since its foundation.
The High Institute for Tourism & Hotels (HITH) is the beginning of Dr. Soad kafafi’s ambitious dream in higher education in Egypt, She went on and founded other educational foundations in the 6th October City:
– The high Institute of Architecture and Business Administration founded in 1993.
– Misr University for Science & Technology (MUST) Founded in 1996
The HITH is teaching tourism studies, tour guidance, and hotel studies both academically and practically. It serves students from Egypt, the Middle East, Africa and different European countries. It gives priority to on-site visits and professional training in five star hotels, catering factories, museums, travel and tour agencies, and transportation companies in Egypt and abroad. It also provides training on specialized computer software in tourism and hotel sectors.
The (HITH) grants bachelor’s degrees to students who complete the four year academic programs, and grants a high diploma to students holding bachelor degrees in science or arts and wish to do complementary studies the following are available programs for the diploma:
– Egyptology
– Tourism studies
– Hotel studies
– Tour guidance
Since 1996, the Higher Council of Universities in Egypt had issued Decrees for the equivalence of the Bachelor of Science degree granted by the (HITH) to other similar bachelor degrees granted in the State universities in Egypt
Students who score a general grade “good” or higher can continue their postgraduate studies under the acknowledgement of the Higher Council of The Universities in Egypt.
Mission
The potential of tourism should always stand ground of improving the quality of life for all peoples it is in the interest of all countries to facilitate both individual and group tourist travel, visits and stays which, contributing as they do to economic, social and cultural development, foster the creation of a climate of confidence and mutual understanding between the state members & the international community, the development of international cooperation & hence lasting peace in the world
Tourism education and learning is the way in which the individual can savor the unknown, acquire understanding and experience the world its fullness. A revolution in tourism education enables all students to stand on the latest technology in this field, is one in which they can be wholeheartedly proud to participate.
Tourism learning and education stand out as a positive factor in promoting mutual knowledge and therefore peace.
The economic potential for education and learning development is almost unlimited. However, considerable investment and expenditure will be required to produce excellent output needed from private educational institutions.
Education in tourism programs should be planned in an integral basis, taking into account all aspects of legislation relating to other sectors such as transport, employment, health, agriculture, communication, math, psychology, human behavior, economics and history of old nations.
Objectives of the Institute
The main goal of the (HITH) is to provide quality hospitality and tourism educational programs that are creative and innovative for traditional and non-traditional students interested in pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees in Egypt. (HITH) believes that each service is unique in its own way however they should all have a unifying element liable to determine success or failure. This perspective, throughout education and training, aims at promoting all levels of the industry.
